Start with the mood, then choose the song
Do you want a playful entrance, a big singalong or a classic feel? Pick that direction before making a long list. You can use one song for the wedding party and a different song for the newlyweds, or keep one track flowing through every introduction.
These are starting points to listen to together, rather than a ranking or a promise about what every crowd will enjoy:
- “CAN’T STOP THE FEELING!” — Justin Timberlake: consider it for a bright, upbeat entrance.
- “September” — Earth, Wind & Fire: consider it for a familiar, celebratory feel.
- Choose a song that connects to your own story: a concert you attended, a road trip favorite or a track you both always turn up.
Choose the exact recording and starting point
Listen to the version you want your DJ to use. A remix, live recording and original release can begin very differently. Tell your DJ the artist, song title, version and the moment you want the entrance to start. Check the whole selected section so you are comfortable with its words and mood.
A short entrance usually works better with a clear musical cue than a long wait for the chorus. Your DJ can discuss the timing with you; you do not need to plan a complicated routine.
Give your MC the details that matter
Provide the introduction order, names with pronunciation notes and how you want to be announced. Decide who is lining up the wedding party and where everyone should go after entering. Share any planned dance, prop or surprise in advance so your venue, photographer and entertainment team can coordinate.
Connect the entrance to what comes next
Will you move straight into your first dance, welcome everyone or sit down for dinner? Decide that transition before the day. It helps your DJ choose an ending point and keeps the room from wondering what happens next.
